Title: Half Yours Half Mine
Series: The Beginning of Everything
Author: Jouty
Pairing: Naina/Junsu

Disclaimer: I do not own Xiah Junsu or any of the other characters . This is a work of fiction. This was written for fun. No profit is being made and no copyright infringement is intended.
Author's note: The prologue might be a bit sad, and gloomy. I promise only because it's the prologue, and I really had to introduce some of the other things for the series. I will try to make everything else fun and light. Unless you prefer drama of course.

The curtain call announcement resonates
I'm sure you didn't come back out

They were right, Naina thought as she walked passed people on the sidewalk. She bumped into someone who told her to watch where she was walking. She didn't hear him. It didn't hurt too much admitting her parents were right, that everyone was right, but her heart ached terribly as she realized she was wrong. She tried really hard not to cry, but a few tears slipped away anyways, because that's what heartbroken people do. They cry. She moved her glasses a little and wiped them off quickly using her sleeves. Who gets married at age twenty anyways, she thought bitterly. It was such a stupid decision she wanted to laugh at herself. That's what she got for being rebellious. She finally reached the little apartment.

When she knocked, KC opened the door right away. They already knew, so none of them bothered asking any questions. They all gave her tight hugs one by one. Although meant for comfort, the hugs made her feel miserable. She hated the idea of being pitied upon. She didn't want sympathy.

"Well I guess I am sleeping with one of you from now on, because I am not taking that couch." Naina said quickly glancing at the old sofa that was way too big for the space. "No snoring, and don't get touchy." She tried her best to stop her voice from cracking.

KC laughed a little through her tears. She didn't know what the girl in front of her was going through. KC knew how much it had hurt her when her relationships fell apart but she couldn't imagine what it was like if a marriage fell apart. How does one lessen the pain? She decided she will make Naina's favorite dessert tomorrow, and the next day, and the next day, and the next if necessary. Whatever she could do to distract her. She wished she could do more to comfort her, but at the moment dessert was all she could do.

Could jokes make her laugh? A joke would not be appropriate for this Jouty thought. She didn't quite know what to say. She is usually used to taking digs at Naina. She knew Naina was hurting, but she also knew how strong she was. She would get over it someday. At least she hoped that is what will happen. Till then Jouty will parade hot men under her nose day and night. It will be like the old times, Jouty tried to think cheerfully.

Roshni wondered if beating him would give Naina some sort of peace. She loved him so it would probably make her hurt more. Roshni felt angry as she looked at Naina. She wanted to go punch him, even though he was her best friend. She decided that she would never talk to him. Naina was a sister. A small part of her wanted to remind Naina that she had told her not to get married. Fun didn't guarantee happiness.

"You can have my room" Roshni offered.

"Where will you sleep?" Naina asked.

"She can sleep with me." Jouty said quickly. "My bed is big enough for two of us."

Any other day Naina would make a comment like 'stay away from my wife' or 'I am not sure if she is safe with you' but today she was too drained to utter useless nonsense. She looked around quickly, the place was already small and she knew how much they hated the cramped feeling.

It was as if Roshni read her thoughts. "Don't worry. We are making payment for the five bedroom apartment tomorrow."

"You said you guys could never afford it even if you saved up all your life." Naina tried to hold her composure as her legs felt weaker.

"The brat finally managed to get her trust fund unlocked." KC explained.

Jouty shrugged her shoulders. "Ehh. Dad couldn't stay mad at me forever."

"We can talk tomorrow." KC said softly. "Go to bed."

Naina didn't protest and headed to Roshni's room.

Jouty was tossing and turning on the bed, wondering exactly how much of her blanket should she leave for Roshni. When Roshni entered with her own blanket, Jouty sighed in relief. Jouty was a terrible hog. She hogged the blanket, the bed, she would even try to sleep on the other person's pillow. It was as if even subconsciously the grass on the other side looked greener to her.

"We filled one of the rooms" Roshni said settling on the bed.

"Yup! Now we are like a square." It was much more fun than being a triangle she thought. Traingles were only fun in movies.

"We will fill the other one too, then we will be like a pentagon."

"Or a star!" Jouty said excitedly. "You know how all the lines are perfectly connected to each other."

"Or a star." Roshni repeated in agreement while wondering why she always played these childish games with her. They made little sense.

Jouty smiled feeling proud. "How do we find her?"

Roshni thought for a mere second. "I don't know." she almost whispered the words.

"We can't just let anyone in." Jouty reminded her.

"Mmhm" This was Roshni's family, and everyone can't be family.

"She has to be clean. Dirty roommates are disgusting."

"She has to be likable." Roshni said pulling the covers closer, trying to get more comfortable. She was missing her bed.

Jouty nodded in agreement. "She has to be young too." KC was the only one older than Jouty in the house and she liked it that way. She didn't want to be ordered around by anyone. She hated listening to anyone.

"She also has to be smart." Roshni added.

"Oh yeah! Some one who can outsmart Naina in case I need back up."

Roshni laughed. "She has to be a good writer."

Jouty turned toward Roshni, "do you think Baji would want her to know some baking?"

"I don't know." Roshni said in a low voice. She was starting to think sleeping with KC would've been a better choice. "We should ask her." Before Jouty could move she said "Tomorrow, I meant tomorrow"

"Maybe we should make sure she knows some Kung Fu for safety and stuff." One should always be prepared.

"May be we shouldn't search for perfection." Roshni warned her.

"But I like perfect." Jouty said sadly.

Roshni sighed and said nothing. She liked perfect too. Not the paranoid perfect, just something that was perfect for her.

"Do you think he will come back?" It was as if she finally had the courage to ask the questions she wanted to ask all night.

"I hope so." Roshni said, finally feeling a little more awake.

"Maybe we can kidnap him if he doesn't come back."

Roshni laughed. "I am sure we can squeeze him in our long kidnap list."

Jouty didn't laugh. "He loves her." It was more of a question than statement.

"Then he will come back." Roshni silently prayed he will come back.

Junsu stepped on the acceleration of his 80s impala trying to make the car go as fast as it could. He tried not to look at his bruised hand. He was an idiot for punching the wall. He cursed himself for doing that. It felt weird not wearing the ring he wore for past one year. She had gotten it from an arcade. Thinking about it left this empty feeling in his heart. Everything used to be so fun with her. She always made him laugh. She was like his sunshine. Everything was great with her, especially the sex. They could never get enough of each other. Maybe that was the problem. Junsu turned the music up. It was as if the song playing the CD was meant just for him.

"The curtain call announcement resonates
I'm sure you didn't come back out
Back when we promised about how we
Didn't believe this day would come"

Did he not know love he wondered? Her love was like a beautiful morning fog. The further he drove the more it felt like it had never happened. Everything was just beautiful dream. Junsu quickly ran his bruised hand through his hair and winced as he felt the pain. All these thoughts were frustrating him. He quickly switched to the lane with less cars. This was going to be one long drive to California. Junsu looked at the rear view mirror and saw the city one last time. He made a silent vow to never return to that place again.

Naina stubbornly shut her eyes trying to shut all her thoughts. She always knew life threw unpleasant things at people. You had one road in mind and it took you to another road through weird turns. That's just how life worked. She was always ready to take everything. She always tried to see the "bigger picture" as Roshni would put it. She wasn't like KC who fretted over a few hurt feelings, or Jouty who cried over missed prada sales. Still she didn't know how to handle this. Her period was two weeks late and for the first time in a longtime she felt really scared and alone. He was no longer there to take her pain, fears, burdens and cut them in half by giving her half of his happiness, joy, smiles. Naina bit back her sob, because she had really gotten used to sharing half of everything with him.
