Late meeting
Yunho sat there tapping his pen. The lecture was boring him. He leaned back on the chair, maybe he should go to sleep. He knew everything his joke of a professor was teaching. He could probably teach the class better than him.
He looked at the girl who just walked in.
"Ms. KC you know I don't allow late students"
"I know but.."
"You also know I don't like excuses"
"I know, I am sorry" She looked down at her feet.
"Stop wasting our time now. Either take a seat or leave" He said sternly and then turned toward the board.
She quietly walked to the empty seat in the last row.
Yunho watched the girl who sat beside him. He sort of felt bad for her. Her face was still red from getting humiliated in front of the class.
"you shouldn't have came if you were going to be this late. You know he is an ass in such matters" Yunho said in a low voice.
Late night call
She called him up late at night.
" Did you pack?" her words were very soft.
He didn't say anything for a while. "hmm"
she exhaled loudly " good"
Yunho rubbed his eyes and looked at the time. "it's really late"
"yeah..sorry" KC pursed her lips. "well I..good night"
"good night"
Late good bye
KC looked around in the aiport. The feeling was overwhelming. She was away from everything and everyone she knew. The korean words on the signs looked strange. She walked toward the phone booth and made a call.
" KC.."
" yeah, how did you know?"
" No one is going to call me at such unusual time from South Korea's area code"
KC managed to laugh a little.
" I am sorry..I shouldn't have yelled at you."
KC stayed silent.
" I am sorry."
She laughed. " It's okay. I forgive you for being so overprotective."
" I didn't even get to say good bye" Yunho said with regret in his voice
" Even though I have already left, we can say good bye now"
Late realization
Yunho looked at her sitting at the table. He slowly walked toward her and took the chair next to her.
" You know..they are about to close" Yunho said casually.
" I know" KC replied.
"Lets leave then" Yunho flashed her a smile.
KC sighed. She looked at her hand, she no longer had the ring.
" I will buy you another one" He grabbed her hand and pulled her off the chair.
KC realized she has never been so close to the man she loved before. Only if she realized it 3 months ago today she wouldn't have had to break of an engagement.
Late confession
Yunho sat by the bed watching her. The accident kept replaying in his head. How is it possible that he only got few scratches and here she was fighting for her life.
Yunho held her tightly.
" KC..I am just going to say it because I know you can hear me. This might be a little late but don't leave me now. It's just that I like hearing your voice, I like talking to you when everyone else is sleeping" He paused and tried to hold back his tears. " And I really like holding your hand. Don't take this away from me. I have fallen in love with you"
Late arrival
Yunho stepped on the gas. He looked over to his wife in the passenger seat.
" I am so sorry love. I should've been more prepared. Oh my god. What am I going to do?" Yunho said anxiously.
KC laughed. It was a little hard to laugh when she was in pain but looking at him panic in such a way made her laugh." You could relax for me. You are making me nervous. If I didn't know any better I would think it's you who was in labor"
"Don't laugh" He scowled. He turned his gaze toward her belly." Yunho jr. Don't think that Mommy and Daddy weren't prepared. We waited all last week but you decided not to show. Why are you so late?"
Omg... wow this is so beautiful. I love the way it's in snapshots... Like I can imagine the whole story now... Jouty dear it is so very heart warming and touching. I miss writing but I am going to pull my socks up and fit writing into my schedule... Thank you... I love you too :D and I hate that we miss each other... :(
ReplyDeleteYou already know what I am going to say...but I'll say it again. I really really liked how you told that story even though its in short snippets it carries a whole lot meaning and manages to project this whole long lovely endearing story. I could see it happening in front of my eyes or like I was watching it on TV. Brilliant Job Jaan. You made me want to write again. =]
