There was snow everywhere.

"Mom mom lets go play in the snow" my little girl shouted in her loudest voice but even as she shouted her voice had that melodious tone.

So I got up and got ready and went to my daughter's room to see her looking out the window

"So I thought you would be ready" I told her as I stood at her doorway.

She turned around and ran towards me. Her eyes were so excited. I got her ready and we went to play in the garden. As we played I noticed a black limo pull up out of our house. I ignored it knowing that I didn't know anyone that famous but I had to look back to see who it was. A man dressed in a green shirt and khaki pants got out of the car. His hair was still that rich copper colour. His face sported some wrinkles round his eyes but he still looked as handsome as ever. As my eyes met his all the pain of the past came back. It couldn't be... after four years he was back why now... why before our child was turning four years old? Those jet black eyes narrowed then looked at my precious little girl. They widened then turned to look at me the way a hawk looked at its prey. He started to walk towards me. My first instinct was to run but his gaze rendered me immobile. He came and stood in front of me. I had to look up to meet his hypnotic gaze.

“Hey Rosh, long time no see,” he said softly his voice laced with steel.

I tried to move my gaze but it seemed like I had been hypnotised. All I saw was hate and disgust in those eyes.

“Cat got your tongue Rosh?” he asked.

Just as I was going to open my mouth I heard my daughter shout,

“Get away from my mum”

I wanted the ground to open up and swallow me. This was my worst nightmare come true. I turned to shield my daughter from his eyes but he was too quick for me. He came round and looked at her, shock then anger running through his eyes. It amazed me that even after all this time I was still able to read his eyes. He looked up at me and as his eyes met mine it was as if he had physically slapped me. The disgust and rage was evident and it washed over me like the cold wind on a summer day. He bent down to look straight into my daughters eyes.

“Hello there pumpkin. What is your name?” His voice had turned so sweet and gentle.

“I don’t speak to strangers. Go away you are scaring me and my mom. We want to play in the snow and you are disturbing our fun. You bad man.” My daughter said t Jae in a very matter of fact voice.

Jae stood up and looked at me.

“This is not over, don’t even think of running. I will find you and you better believe it.” The ice in his eyes and the steel in his voice were enough to make me believe there was nowhere in this whole entire universe that I could hide in. Jae walked back to the limo and drove away.

“Mummy who was that man?” Malaika my beautiful innocent daughter asked.

“Don’t worry honey bun, let’s make that snow man and have a snow ball fight.” I said to her to distract her.

We played outside for over an hour and then went inside to warn up and have some breakfast. The day passed slowly. It was the longest day of my life. I knew Jae would be back that evening. At 4pm Malaika came running to me.

“Mummy tree house time. Let’s go and make some hot chocolate and talk about my daddy and read his favorite stories.” Malaika ran to the kitchen and got her Tom and Jerry mug out and waited patiently near the back door. I dragged myself up from the sofa and went and got a matching Tom and Jerry cup.

“Let’s go pumpkin” I told her and took her little hand.

We walked to the giant oak tree and Malaika started to climb up the ladder. She had become a little monkey.

I followed her up and as we entered the tree house i switched on the electric heater. I went over and switched on the kettle while Malaika made herself comfortable in her favourite corner. As I waited for the kettle to heat up I looked around at my surroundings. This was the tree house that Jae had built when we first moved to this house. He had used his summer holidays to build this romantic home away from home hideout. Everything in this tree house reminded me of him. It was like he was here with me even when he left me.

“Mummy stop day dreaming and make the hot chocolate.” Malaika said.

I shook my head and set out to make the hot chocolate both Malaika and myself enjoyed on cold days. I took both our mugs to where she was sitting. I sat next to her and started to tell her about the time when Jae and I had gone to the theme park. Just as I got into the story I heard someone climbing the ladder of the tree house.

“Mummy will be right back” I said to Malaika. I walked over to the trap door and looked down. My body froze.

  1. I remember reading this long time ago. I am so glad you are finally posting it up.

I can't wait to see what happens next.

You made me fall in love with Malaika! The honey bun comment made me cringe. I hate hate such corny endearment/nicknames but for her I'll make an exception.

What happened to break up Roshni & Jaejoong? Why is she scared of Jaejoong?? I wanna knowwww!!

This is an awesome start because it catches my interest and leaves me hanging.

  2. is he suppose to be a creep because this would be perfect! Or maybe I am just watching too many episodes of criminal minds these days.

I second Sara on the corny endearment/nicknames. I like the story. So is he bad or is he good?
