Life always has a way of throwing curve balls at you and life had certainly thrown a curveball at Jouty. After 2 years of marriage life with her husband had become a routine. They may be husband and wife but they acted like strangers. In the start Jouty and her husband always made time for each other but work had taken over their lives. Jouty understood that it was partly her fault since she worked really late but Yoochun had started to spend more time with his brothers then with her. She tried to make the effort to make their weekends special but it seemed that these days Yoochun always had plans for the weekend and therefore Jouty always ended up spending the weekend alone.
One very hot Friday evening Jouty came home feeling unwell.
Jouty: (thinking) I hope Yoochun is at home. I could really do with some TLC today.
She opened the door but found herself looking at an empty house just like every other evening when she returned from work. Jouty went to the kitchen made herself some tea and soup. After having her tea and soup she got into bed and went to sleep in her work clothes.
Meanwhile at Jaejoong's place....
Jaejoong: Yoochun why don't you stay the night here? We could go on all night and I don't want you to go out too late into the night. In fact why don't we have a lad's weekend and enjoy ourselves.
Yoochun: Sounds like a great idea. I'll call Jouty and tell her.
Yoochun calls home and finds the answering machine. "Hey Jouty. I'll be away this weekend. Probably be back on Sunday evening so see you then. Have a nice weekend."
The weekend passes and on Sunday evening Yoochun returns home.
Yoochun: Jouty I'm home.
Yoochun looks around the house, Jouty's car is still outside and her bag in the hall but the apartment is unusually quiet. Yoochun makes his way to his bedroom where he finds Jouty in bed looking pale. He rushes to her and feels her forehead. She's burning with a very high temperature. Yoochun calls Jaejoong.
Yoochun: Please come quickly.
Jaejoong: Yoochun, what wrong?
Yoochun: Its Jouty, she's ill... she's burning I dunno what to do. I don't even know how long she's been this way.
Jaejoong: I'm on my way and I'll call the ambulance and Yunho. He'll get to you quicker.
Yoochun sits next to Jouty in total shock.
Yoochun: Why didn't you call me? Have we drifted so far apart that you can't even call me... why Jouty?
The door bell rings. Yoochun runs to open it to find Yunho and the paramedics. The paramedics follow Yoochun to the bedroom. They check Jouty while Yoochun and Yunho watch.
Paramedic 1: OMG!! Jouty!! What happened here?
Yoochun: You know my wife?
Paramedic 1: of course I know your wife. She's like my younger sister... in fact she is my younger sister. What happened?
Yoochun: I was away the whole weekend. I only just came home to find her like this.
Paramedic 2: KC we need to take her to the hospital but first we need to get some fluids into her. She is severely dehydrated and the fever needs to be brought down.
KC: On the stretcher on the count of three; one two three...
The 2 paramedics lift her and lay her on the stretcher.
KC: Sir will you be coming in the ambulance?
Yoochun: Yes. (He turns to Yunho) Jaejoong should be on his way just fill him in and I'll see you at the hospital.
Yunho: You go Yoochun. KC a word please.
KC: Sure Yunho, what can I do for you?
Yunho: Stop. She will be ok won't she?
KC: Yunho, this is my job, I'll try my best and once we get to the hospital the doctors will try their best. I just want to bring her fever down so that the rest can be sorted out. Don't worry I have yet to fall in your eyes. I'll see you the hospital.
KC leaves with Yoochun and Jouty in the ambulance...
Yunho: Yes, you have yet to fall (smiles) for me.
Yoochun sits and holds Jouty's hand all the way to the hospital. At the hospital the doctor checks Jouty's condition and admits her for a few days. She comes out to talk to Yoochun.
Dr. Roshni: Yoochun, it looks like your wife has had a fever for 2 days now. She is severely dehydrated and we need to hydrate her as well as bring the fever down. The next 24 hours are crucial for her. You can spend the night here but only you as we have a one person policy.
Yoochun: Thank you Doctor.
Dr. Roshni: It is ok. I'm sure she'll be well.
KC: She has to be, my lil sis is tough. She can handle anything.
Dr. Roshni: KC you are still here? Your shift has ended go home and sleep.
KC: Roshni this is Jouty . Remember, I told you about her and we were supposed to go for coffee together with Naina on Friday.
Dr.Roshni: This is that Jouty? Now she definitely has to get better!
KC: Yeah she will be she is a fighter.
While Roshni and KC, Yoochun goes into the room and looks at Jouty. She looks so pale; there are bluish black marks under her eyes. His heart breaks.
Yoochun: (thinking) Sorry Jouty. I wasn't there for you.
Jaejoong: Hey, how you holding up?
Yoochun: This is entirely my fault. I should have been at home. In fact, we should have been together. What has our marriage become? When did we become strangers?
Jaejoong: You have time to fix it. Some people are not that lucky.
They both go to stand near Jouty's bed and while they are chatting she opens her eyes.
She see's Yoochun's face and then turns to Jaejoong.
Jouty: where am I?
Jaejoong looks at Yoochun, who looks heartbroken.
Jaejoong: You are the hospital. You have been very ill. Why didn't you call us? I mean Yoochun?
Jouty: I thought I'd get better.
Yoochun: WELL YOU DIDN'T. YOU NEARLY DIED....
Jaejoong: Chill out Yoochun. This is a hospital.
They turn to look at Jouty who has turned even paler.
Yoochun: Oh man, sorry Jouty. I didn't mean to shout. It’s just that you scared the living daylights out of me.
Jouty: I'm sorry I should have called.
Yoochun: No, it is my fault. I should have checked up on you during the weekend.
Jouty: Yoochun, can I ask you something?
Yoochun picks her hand and holds it.
Yoochun: You can ask me whatever you want.
Jouty: When did we become strangers?
Yoochun: I don't know.
Jouty: Remember when we used to clean the house together? Oh what fun!! She smiles remembering the time they ended making more of a mess then cleaning up.
Yoochun: Yeah and that smile. I have missed it. It has been ages since you last smiled.
Jouty: What happened to us Yoochun?
Yoochun: we drifted apart. Our work took over, you were never at home and I guess I felt alone. That is why I started going to Jaejoong's place.
Jouty: I thought you stopped loving me. Every night I'd want to be in your arms but the fear of you rejecting me was too great so I just turned away.
Yoochun: aw hunny, if you only knew how I wanted to take you in my arms.
Jouty: We have a lot of issues to work through to make this marriage work.
Yoochun: You are right but first I want you to get better and if you ever scare me like that again...
Jouty: What will you do?
Yoochun: I will tie you up and lock you in the bedroom.
Jouty: You wouldn't dare.
Yoochun gets a mischievous look in his eyes.
Yoochun: Wait till you get out of here then we'll see.
Jouty: I know that look.
Yoochun: Yeah and I also know you love that look.
Jouty: Yeah, I do.
Yoochun: I love you Jouty. Don't ever doubt that.
Jouty: And I love you. From now on I'm going to tell you every hour till you get irritated.
Yoochun: I'll never tire of hearing you say that you love me.
Yoochun leans forward and kisses Jouty. The tenderness and gentleness soon turns into a hot fiery passion that neither can control.
Yunho: ehem... guys.
KC: Get a room!
Yoochun and Jouty break apart to see Yunho and KC standing at the door.
Yoochun: Sorry...
KC: why are you apologizing? Jouty is very lucky that she has someone who loves her like you do. Jouty had you seen him when we took you on the stretcher, he looked so pale I thought we were going to have to admit him too.
Yunho: Hey my bro isn’t that weak.
KC: Yeah yeah, you looked like you needed to sit as well.
Yunho: Don't listen to her Jouty. Yoochun is the bravest of us all.
Jouty: Stop. My baji never liesand if Yoochun looked pale it is because he's never seen me like that. I'd probably be in a worse state then him if I had found him like that
KC: See (She sticks her tongue out atYunho).
Yunho grabs KC's hand.
Yunho: Let us leave them alone. come on lets go...Yunho drags KC away.
Yoochun: What do you know? I think Yunho has a crush.
Jouty: hehe, let’s just concentrate on ourselves.
From that day on Yoochun made time for Jouty and Jouty made sure she got home early.
2 weeks later...
Jouty: I'm home.
Jouty walks in to find the house totally quiet.
Jouty: Yoochun!! Yoochun!! where are you?
When there is no reply she gets worried and she goes to the bedroom. There is no one there. (Thinking) where is he? She goes to the lounge and finds a note on the coffee table.
Jouty,
Am at Jaejoong's please come there when you get home.
Yoochun<3
Jouty showers and gets ready. After an hour she gets to Jaejoong's place and rings the bell. No one answers so she tried to open the door and finds it open.
Jouty: Yoochun.!! Jaejoong!! Anyone here?
"SURPRISE"
The lights switch on and Jouty see's Yoochun and his brothers together with KC, Roshni and 2 other girls with them. Yoochun comes over to her.
Yoochun: Happy anniversary!!!
Jouty: You remembered.
Yoochun: of course I remembered. Today is the day we made a commitment to love each other, stand by each other through the highs and the lows.
Jouty: We vowed to understand, love, share and care about each other.
Yoochun: Jouty I want to say something to you. In front of all of our friends: These 2 years have been a learning curve for both of us but I love you and I always have and I always will. You are my other half, my soul mate, my perfect match and I want to spend the rest of my life with you. I promise you I will share my problems and sorrows as well as my joy and happiness with you always. I love you Mrs. Jouty Park.
Jouty has tears in her eyes.
Jouty: Yoochun, everyday I thank God that I have you for a husband, a life partner and best friend. Without you I am incomplete, my life is incomplete. You have completed me in every way, you have made my weaknesses your strengths and your weaknesses my strengths. Before I met you my life was a routine I was like a robot and a few weeks ago I would have said my life had returned to square one, but today I can say that my life is as colourful as it was when I first met you. I love you Yoochun.
Jaejoong: Ok guys enough with the speeches. I can see some raccoons here.
KC: Jaejoong....
Yunho: Kiss her already...
Yoochun leans forward and captures Jouty's lips. They share their first of many passionate kisses.
This might happen to me someday. I often prioritize all the things which are important to me and what I would like to see in a guy, ambition, intelligence, creative, so many things come to my mind before I think about a guy who will genuinely care about me. I don't think the idea of growing apart from a loved one even bothers me anymore.
