The leukemia charity ball was in full swing. Roshni was relieved that she had pulled it off. After a week of planning, decorating and coordinating she felt she could relax a little. Finally business was picking up and thanks to her three best friends who were more like her sisters then friends she could wake up and finally look at herself in the mirror.

“Where are they?” she thought, “They should be here by now”

Her gaze wondered through the crowd searching for her sisters when it landed on a familiar silhouette. Wearing his favourite designer suit he entered the hall with a commanding presence. It had been three years since he had saved her life from her abusive ex. After that she had refused to see him. In fact she had refused to see anyone except her sisters.

She looked amazing Jaejoong thought. In a green sari she really was the belle of the ball. Not one woman in the whole room could hold a candle to her and if it hadn’t been for Yunho's not so subtle hint he would never have attended the Ball. She looked a whole lot better than the last time he had seen her. He was glad she had put on some weight and that the scars on her face had disappeared but had the scars of her heart healed. Three years of trying to forget her had not worked since she still made his heart dance every time he saw her.

Roshni was in a state of panic. Three years before she had an excuse to avoid Jaejoong but now she didn’t have an excuse. It dawned on her that this may be her baji’s doing and she had probably roped Jouty and Naina into it too. No wonder they had not yet arrived. She whipped out her phone and called KC.

Roshni: Where the hell are you?

Yunho: and a very good evening to you too.

Roshni: Jung Yunho you better give my sister her phone before I explode...

Yunho: Rosh chill out man, we are on our way there.

Roshni: Why are you answering KC’s phone?

Yunho: see the thing is…

KC can be heard giggling in the background.

KC: Yunho give me the phone...

U-know: chill babe!

KC: Yunho!

Yunho: here talk to your baji!

KC: Roshni... hey lulu

Roshni: lulu my foot... where are you guys?

KC: This much anger is not good for you. We are on our way.

Roshni: come quick...

KC: ok, We’ll be there in 5 minutes.

Roshni hangs up and starts to mingle with the crowd hoping for her three cunning sisters to arrive before the inevitable happens but fate has other plans in store for her. Just as she starts to head towards the top table Jaejoong intercepts her.

Jaejoong: Hello Roshni.

Roshni: (nods her head) Jaejoong

Jaejoong: how have you been?

Roshni: Well, please excuse me...

Jaejoong: You are not excused

Roshni who has been staring at the top table behind Jaejoong looks at him in shock and see’s laughter lurking in his eyes.

Roshni: I’m glad one of us finds this funny...

Jaejoong: Come on Roshni... you have to admit for three years you’ve been running from me and even now you are looking for a way to run.

Roshni: (whispers) pleases Jaejoong...

Jaejoong: Why Roshni? What have I ever done to make you run away from me?

Roshni: Because you remind of my past... a past I want to forget... a place I don’t want to go back to.

Roshni tries to walk past Jaejoong but he grabs her hand and stops her.

Jaejoong: Don’t you think I wish that I had met you in more pleasant circumstances? Do you know that for three years the scenes of that night have plagued my dreams? What if I had never got to you on time? When you refused to see me I thought you needed space so I gave you the space but after awhile I felt that you didn’t want me in your life at all therefore I decided to spread my wings and travel the world to expand on my business but even then my heart couldn’t stop beating for you.

He brings her in front of him and puts her hand on his chest.

Jaejoong: Feel the beats. Listen to what they tell you.

Roshni can’t believe what she’s hearing or feeling. She never thought that touching another human being even that a man would make her feel so alive. She couldn’t seem to move her hand from his chest. It was like a silver rope had tied her to him and for the first time in three years she felt a connection.

Roshni: (whispers) but I’m not perfect. That’s why I went through all the abuse. I must be lacking something and that is why people tend to use me instead of loving me.

Jaejoong: (gently) Rosh look at me

He raises her chin with his finger until their eyes meet. Roshni’s eyes lock with his.

Jaejoong: look into my eyes and tell me what you see. How can you think you are imperfect when my heart beats for you? You are my perfect half. What about your three sisters? Don’t they love you? They would give their happiness, success even their lives if it meant erasing your past. You didn’t see their pain when I brought you to KC’s house that night. KC blames herself till today that’s why she makes sure that everything runs smoothly for you. What about Naina and Jouty? They were so angry at themselves that night that they made sure that your ex was put behind bars for the rest of his sorry life. As for myself, I was fit for murder if it wasn’t for my brothers I would be in jail right now. That night we all cried tears of blood for you. Does that not prove how much we all love you? Why won’t you let me close to you?

Roshni: (shocked) I’m scared of being hurt again.

Jaejoong: If I ever hurt you I know not only will your sisters hunt me down but my brothers will also never forgive me. Please Roshni, give me a chance? Give us a chance?

From behind Roshni a familiar voice says…

KC: Yes lulu give Hero a chance. He truly loves you and if I didn’t trust him I would not even let him within a five mile radius of you.

Roshni: You mean you knew Baji?

KC goes and hugs Roshni, then looks at her.

KC: your Ane knows everything. That’s why she told Yunho to drop hints around Hero. Rosh I love you more than you’ll ever know and I would give anything to erase the scars of your past but I know that time and love will heal those wounds. You have your sisters’ love but now you need the love of your soul mate and I know deep down that Jaejoong is your soul mate. Don’t be afraid because you can always fall back on your sisters.

KC turns to Jaejoong.

KC: If you ever make her cry I’ll make you pay for each and every tear that falls from eyes. Is that clear?

Jaejoong: I’d rather cut out my own heart than see tears in Roshni’s eyes.

Naina and Jouty who have been standing behind KC come and stand next to her.

Naina: KC will only make you pay but Jouty and I will make sure there isn’t an unbroken bone left in your body.

Jouty: yeah so watch it because we’ll be watching you.

Roshni: now if you have finished with your threats can you please leave us alone?

KC: sure (she hugs Roshni and Jouty and Naina join the hug too) we love you. Sisters forever

They leave Roshni and Jaejoong and go and mingle with the other guests.

Jaejoong: So... now do you believe me?

Roshni: It’s not like I never believed you. I just need time to adjust to all this.

Jaejoong: so you’ll give us a chance...

Roshni: mhmm

Jaejoong comes closer

Jaejoong: I didn’t hear you?

Roshni: Yes I’ll give us a chance

Jaejoong kisses Roshni on the forehead and Roshni leans into his body.

Jaejoong: let’s go dance

They dance the night away and from that night onwards there is a beautiful roshni (light) on Roshni’s face.
